Little nice things
It’s never felt so good to be in bed at half past nine AM. I’ve been doing my best to stick to the early wakeup regime on work days, and I don’t hate it, and the weekend sleep-in feels much sweeter. Work-life balance is good at the moment. It makes me wonder how it was ever bad, and why I always answered that it was good on my staff satisfaction surveys. Situations always look so different from the outside.
I finished a scarf! It’s a unisex Metro Kerchief, which we’ve named the ‘Hipster Scarf’ cos let’s be honest, that’s exactly what it makes you look like.
I’ve been persevering with a ‘do one thing a month’ thing this year. I cheated recently by doing my June piece in July. But managed to finish the scarf for July too, which gives me a clean slate for this month. What to do, what to do!
Every Thursday is market day at Murdoch Uni. There’s all sorts of disjoint knick knacks. Mostly jewellery and trinkets, though there’s a leathercraft table and some information stands.
They had a guy playing bagpipes too, which was pretty special. I think I may be the only person I know who likes the sound of bagpipes. Just in some wide open space, please, and not too nearby.
I bought a scarf with the last tenner in my wallet. It’s a light but warm fabric (nylon I think), which suits the weather we’ve been having. Perth is currently chilly at night, but crisp and sometimes even warmish around midday.
I’m ready for some summer. We can open windows at my new workplace, which is awesome. And I have so many plans for the garden. :)
