Eyes as big as my stomach

I have to get my eyes lasered again. I’ve been wondering why my eyesight hasn’t been perfect despite all the lasik success stories I hear. I wondered if I’d done something wrong, if my lifestyle was bad, but no – apparently it’s common enough to need to go for a second round.

They sometimes cut out less than they measure to see if your vision improves as much without needing to thin the cornea further. Sometimes they know instinctively which patients will need a second round. This certainly explains why I’ve had to go for 2 post-op checkups when some of my friends only went in for one. I wish they’d tell me these things! Nothing hits my worry about button more than being kept in the dark (no pun intended).

So, I’m going in again tomorrow. I’m still sick and coughing like I’m quite diseased. Went to the doctor today and came home with prescription codeine, which supposedly doesn’t interfere with the temzepam they’ll give me tomorrow. I’m gonna a be drugged up to my under-corrected eyeballs!

I’m drugged up right now, as a matter of fact. Played the worst few games of LoL ever and now hope to sleep through a full night and not wake up in a coughing fit. Please, God of Science, let me sleep tonight.

A few photos before I drift away – some food I’ve enjoyed over the last couple of weeks.

Niaal’s grandma’s shepherds pie, served with two gobs of Greek yoghurt. We have yoghurt in the house permanently now since starting our diet (I’ll write about that some other time), I love it. Full fat Greek yoghurt goes with freakin everything – anything you could have sour cream, mayo, cream cheese or cream with, this stuff makes a light, non greasy substitute.

Kale chips – bite sized leaves of kale seasoned with oil and salt. Olive oil and sea salt mostly, but I did one batch with avocado oil and soy sauce – so very moreish. 10mins in the oven on 175 degrees C, use baking paper.

Rice and chicken coriander tomato enoki soup, plus yummy chicken wings my mum made. Enoki mushrooms are so tasty. Wonder if they’d make a good substitute for noodles.

I can confirm roast is fantastic in a slow cooker. This bit of lamb and veggies took 7 hours. The whole house smelled great and the sweet potatoes came out so soft. Bonus points for Niaal’s mohawk rosemary arrangement.

OK, really must sleep. Dis codeine. Good night, friends. x
