Aw yeah, the gnocchi

The gnocchi was a success! Used 5 potatoes and half a kilo of flour, took bloody ages, made a dusty old mess, but the end result went great for lunch and dinner tonight. A little bit of ingredient goes a long way, so unless you’re making for a huge dinner party, it’s safe to be conservative with amounts.

We didn’t follow the instructions to the letter cos mixing in flour took way too long and I couldn’t be arsed rolling dough logs. Pulling thumb-sized pieces off works just fine. We ended up with huge pieces, but that was mostly from the cbf. And the fork thing seems superfluous too – I don’t need my dinner slops to look that beautiful.

I made a crap sort-of contadina sauce for lunch but we used proper sundried tomato pesto for dinner. Wee! Learned something new. Also had a go at making hash browns, so that’s two new things, actually. Not bad effort for a holiday. :)
